A focus on veterans
Following up on being named by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School® for 2014, Binghamton University was named the 12th best school for Veterans by U.S. News & World Report. Binghamton is among the publication’s top-ranked schools in the Best Colleges rankings that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active service members apply, pay for and complete their degrees.
Veterans Day events showcased the University’s commitment to helping those who have served our country in the armed forces. A weekend of activities honored all veterans, reservists and active-duty members of the military, including free admission to a Binghamton Bearcats basketball doubleheader; free transportation to the Returning Warrior 10-Miler race in Binghamton; free admission to the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Wrestling Open; flag-raising and lowering ceremonies; and a Veterans Day panel discussion, keynote address and luncheon.
The events in honor of veterans were co-sponsored by the Binghamton University Veterans Services Office, Athletics Department, Office of the President, Music Department, Division of Student Affairs, New York State Police at Binghamton University and U.S. Army ROTC at Binghamton University.
