TRADITIONS

Welcome Back Weekend

Welcome Back Weekend kicks off the start of the academic year, Newing Style. Our community welcomes both returning and new students with a block party, exciting games, prizes, food and more. This event cannot be missed, it is a time to reconnect with old friends, meet new students and staff living in the Newing community and kick the year off with great Newing pride.  Be on the look out for more!

Autumn Bowl

This event occurs in September and is Newing's newest tradition. While the weekend is centered around a Co-Rec competition it's also a great atmosphere for students, friends, Alumni and others to socialize and take part in some neighborly competition and the other activites included in Autumn Bowl. Nothing beats good food, fundraising, live bands, and great football.  So come  check it out!

Co-Rec Football

Are you ready for some football!  Newing's Co-Rec is a two-month long tournament between the four buildings of Newing Community. Come down for some good, competitive but friendly fun. Enjoy yourself, whether you're playing or watching!  Opportunities are available for refereeing as well!

Newing Navy

This week-long event is Newing's oldest tradition. It is held each year during a week in the spring semester and marks the passing of winter and the advent of spring. It includes a variety of sports competitions, trivia challenges, tug-o-war and much much more. Each hall in Newing competes against every other building in the community for the prized plaque and title of Newing Navy champs.

Breakfast by Moonlight

Each semester, on the first Monday of finals week, the Residential Life staff teams up with the Dining Hall staff to sponsor this much needed study break. This event takes place from 10:00 p.m. to midnight. Not only can you refuel with some scrumptious snacks but, you can de-stress by playing fun games, winning some prizes, and hanging out with friends.
