Roles & Responsibilities

We want you to get the most out of your Binghamton experience, so your supervisor will work with you to make sure you find things that challenge and interest you.  One of the exciting things about working in Residential Life at Binghamton is that that no two days are ever the same.  But to give you an idea of how you can anticipate spending your time, the following are some of the time commitments inherent to the ARC, ACD, RD, CD and AD positions, please select position to find actual responsibilities:

Day-time commitments:

  • Meet one-on-one with professional and/or student staff members
  • Participate in student staff training
  • Adjudicate policy violations
  • Maintain open office hours
  • Participate on, co-chair, or mentor a departmental committee
  • Attend professional staff training
  • Attend weekly professional staff meetings
  • Attend monthly departmental meetings
  • Participate in a professional development opportunity such as serving on a University committee, working at the Career Development Center, etc.

Evening commitments:

  • Facilitate weekly building staff meetings
  • Attend monthly in-service training for student staff
  • Work with hall/area government members and attend meetings
  • Attend building/area programs
  • Participate in duty rotation
