What is SEFA?

SEFA is the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) — a charitable solicitation of New York state employees conducted under the authority of State Finance Law § 201-1. State employees may give to any of the charitable organizations that participate in SEFA and may at any time revoke or modify a contribution made through payroll deduction by providing a written request to the employee's payroll office.

A letter from President Harvey Stenger

November 2014

Dear University Community,

This year's annual State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) – "Giving is Golden" – has reached its halfway point, and I want to remind you that every donation, no matter its size, will have a positive impact on those less fortunate in our community.

I encourage you to take advantage of the online pledging that we rolled out for the first time this year. You can easily look up the list of agencies and designate your gift to the agencies you wish using payroll deduction or check. The online pledging can be found at https://www.giveattheoffice.org/_nyssefa. If you prefer to use a paper pledge form, you can find more information on this website or e-mail Martha Gahring at gahring@binghamton.edu and she will send one to you.

Each person who contributes $78 or more – just $3 a paycheck – by December 1, will be eligible for a drawing for gift certificates valued at $50, donated by the University.

I am grateful for your past support and know that, with your help, we will again surpass our $60,000 goal by December 1, and continue to make a difference in the lives of those in need in our community.

Thank you,

Harvey Stenger
President
