Cellular Services

Please be aware that the Telecom Department at Binghamton does not manage or control cellular signal strength or coverage on campus. Cellular service is provided by individual carriers and is considered a "best effort" based on the infrastructure and technology of those external providers. If you have problems with your cell signal while on campus, we recommend contacting your mobile service provider directly to report the problem and ask for help. Our department focuses on managing the university's internal telecommunications infrastructure, landlines, and internet backbone and ordering cellular phones for staff.

Cellular Policy

Effective April 1, 2015, the University has approved a Personal Communication Device policy. After reviewing the policy, please sign Appendix A and return to the Telecommunications Department along with the Cellular Device Request Form below.

All requests for University provided cellular devices -- new services, upgrades, or change in service -- will require authorization from your Department Supervisor.  In addition, requests for new service will require authorization from your division Vice President or Dean of your department.

Cellular Service Request

Please complete a Cellular Service Request with the required form(s) attached to the online request for all cellular service moves, adds, changes or disconnects.

If you are planning to travel outside of the US and need to request an international plan, please complete the International Service Request

Cellular Service Plans

Our primary carrier is AT&T Mobility; however, Verizon Wireless is available to those who live in areas where AT&T Mobility has no coverage. Cell devices may be viewed online at AT&T Mobility or Verizon Wireless . Once you select a device, email us at telecom@binghamton.edu for availability and pricing.

AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk (EPTT)

EPTT will allow users to make group calls and send highly secure texts, images, videos, or files with team members, contacts, and talk groups with the push of a button.

If you want to use the feature here are instructions to install the EPPT application for iPhone and Android phones.
