Title: Program Director
Higher education is my sole vehicle to a better life. I am a sophomore at Binghamton University studying mathematics and visual design. I am an employee of the city of Binghamton, director of a local youth community center, the editor of The Free Press newspaper, and a member of the national honor society Phi Eta Sigma. All of the activities I am involved with are directly related to opportunities offered to me as an undergraduate at the University.
As an undergraduate at BU, the opportunities I have to explore are endless. Higher education has allowed me a second chance at life. It has made me contemplate the world around me and develop problem-solving and decision-making skills. Higher education brings people together with enthusiasm to explore academic interests and ultimately creates an environment that is inspiring and conducive to working toward life achievements. State budget cuts to higher education reduce opportunities and stunt the growth of a world of individuals who are interested in leading exciting and interesting lives.
