The majority of Binghamton University alumni live and work in New York state, getting jobs, paying taxes and generally, contributing to the rich and vibrant culture that the Empire State is famous for.

Human Capital

  • Nearly 54,000 Binghamton University alumni still reside in New York state, about 57% of all those who have graduated from the University. This suggests that Binghamton University has a sustained impact on New York's regional and state economies. Because alumni have increased earning capacity as a result of a Binghamton University education, and a majority of alumni stay in New York state this impact will continue in the medium to long term.

  • Alumni who stay in New York live throughout the state, in all regions. Approximately 20% of out-of-state students live in New York state after graduation.

  • During the course of their studies, several thousand Binghamton University students engage in clinical experience, course practica, and volunteer experiences. These experiences represented $5.9 million in value this past year in Broome and Tioga counties.
