ENGINET

Graduate Distance Learning Program

In 1994, the Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University developed a distance learning program named EngiNet (Engineering Network ). EngiNet allows students to take courses without ever attending classes on campus. This program enables those with a Bachelor of Science degree to earn a Master of Engineering degree in electrical and computer engineering, systems science and industrial engineering.

Course lectures are recorded live on-campus and digitally encoded for the Internet. The distance learning student can stream the lectures weekly on-line.

EngiNet provides a toll free phone number and fax number for distance learning students to communicate directly with faculty. Students can also communicate with faculty members using electronic mail. The student can enroll in individual courses as matriculated graduate students (working toward a degree) or as a non-matriculated graduate student (not desiring a degree) taking courses on a select self-interest basis. It is also possible to audit courses on a non-credit basis.

EngiNet classes are asynchronous which enables the student to view materials at times most convenient for them. Although students must still meet certain course deadlines for assignments and exams, the flexibility to continue with normal work and personal schedules enables many students to participate who otherwise would not be able to fit school into an already busy schedule.

Graduate School Application Deadlines

If you are interested in working towards a degree and you have missed the matriculated deadline for admissions, non-matriculated forms can be processed at anytime during the course registration window. (Students would still need to apply to the graduate school to enter a program of study. Only two courses taken prior to matriculation will count towards a degree).

Students who were registered during the last semester are able to pre-register for the next semester during the pre-registration window by calling the EngiNet office (800-478-0718).
