Ingeborg Majer-O'Sickey's areas of teaching and research are in German Studies, European and global cinema, and Feminist Film Theory and Praxis.
Courses include "Girls and Visual Culture," "Women in Holocaust Films," "Faust in Film," "Art and Propaganda: The Case of Leni Riefenstahl," and "Calamity Jane and Cowboys: Intersections of Class, Race, and Gender in Westerns."
She has published articles and book chapters on filmmakers and authors, among these on Percy Adlon, Ingeborg Bachmann, Aysun Bademsoy, R.W. Fassbinder, Marguerite Yourcenar, and Wim Wenders. Her publications include European Cinema: Experiment, mainstream and praxis (Studies in European Cinema, 2010); Riefenstahl Screened. An Anthology of New Criticism (with N.C. Pages and Mary Rhiel, 2009), Triangulated Visions. Women in Recent German Cinema (SUNY UP, 1998), and Subversive Subjects: Reading Marguerite Yourcenar (with Judith Holland Sarnecki, 2004).
Majer-O'Sickey is currently preparing two manuscripts for publication: Engendering Heimat, Genderizing Nation: Women in Third Reich Cinema and Afterlife of Leni Riefenstahl. A Study of Reception Aesthetics.
