Diversity

AT BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY, OUR STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF REPRESENT A DIVERSITY OF CULTURES, BACKGROUNDS AND PERSPECTIVES. WE STRIVE TO CREATE A SAFE AND INCLUSIVE CAMPUS WHERE EVERYONE IS WELCOME WITH EQUAL ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE THEIR GOALS AND AMBITIONS.

Diversity is our strength

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DDEI) advocates for a diverse and equitable campus that promotes a sense of safety and belonging for students from all backgrounds. DEI provides training and programming that promote the core values of the University: unity, inclusion and equity, and guidance regarding issues of bias and discrimination. Learn more about DEI's work.

Valuing cultural diversity

The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) furthers Binghamton's mission of inclusiveness through workshops, programs and services that empower and support underrepresented communities, religious communities and student cultural organizations. The center’s lounge is a welcoming space where students can relax, study or connect with peers.

LGBTQ+ resources

The Q Center provides resources, educational opportunities and social justice initiatives that affirm sexual diversity and gender identity and expression. The center promotes intersectionality and fosters a strong sense of community, empowering all students to be their full, authentic selves.

Students with disabilities

The Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) is dedicated to supporting students who self-identify as having a disability in their academic pursuits. SSD helps to ensure that everyone has equal access to academic and extracurricular programming, regardless of ability.

Support for new students of color

he New Student of Color Mentoring Program helps incoming students navigate University life through meaningful relationships with other students and faculty and staff of color. The mentoring program is an opportunity for students to expand their network and foster connections that will help them succeed now and in the future.

Reporting bias
