First-year Transfer Experience

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR FIRST SEMESTER AT BINGHAMTON WITH ONE OR MORE OF THESE OPPORTUNITIES BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE OFFICE FOR STUDENT TRANSITION AND SUCCESS.

Get involved with Transfer Student Success

Transfer Student Success assists students prior to and during their transition into Binghamton University and all the way through to their graduation day. Staff provide programming and individual meetings for transfer students and collaborate with housing, student organizations, academic advising and other departments throughout campus offering social and educational opportunities to make sure students engage in the full experience of being a Binghamton student.

Participate in the Transition and TRANSFERmation Summit

The Transition and TRANSFERmation Summit is a great opportunity for transfer students to get a jump start on career development, engage with other new transfers and begin to get acclimated to Binghamton University and the local community.

The summit is a day and a half event starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 17, and finishing after dinner on Friday, Aug. 18. Participants who live on campus will be allowed to move in early on Aug. 17.

Why attend?
  • Gain a vast knowledge of academic, social/emotional and career resources available at Binghamton.
  • Start to create a sense of belonging on campus and within the greater Binghamton community.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of potential career paths.

Registration is capped at 50 students. If more than 50 register, we will use a waiting list based on when the student registered. Register online.

Registration will be open until Saturday, July 15.

Join the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a fall-semester program designed specifically for new students (first years and transfers) to interact with peers, trained student mentors and a faculty/staff team to explore leadership in a small-group environment through a specific interest-based knowledge community. Through weekly meetings, leadership workshops, special events and a student-developed and led service-learning project, participants earn a University-sponsored leadership microcredential upon completion of the program in December.

Through the ELP you will:

  • GET CONNECTED to University and local community members
  • BUILD a support network
  • EXPLORE, develop and practice leadership skills
  • IMPACT the local community during your first semester
  • EARN a leadership certificate
  • LEARN how to maximize your college experience

The deadline to apply online is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 30. You'll need your Binghamton user ID (gwang10) and password to access the application.

For more information, visit the ELP webpage.
