International Services

Binghamton is proud of its diverse student body that includes more than 2,700 international students from well over 100 countries. The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) helps international students feel at home and make a comfortable transition to the University. Students are provided immigration and employment guidance and also have opportunities to participate in social programs such as a monthly international coffee hour.

Another unique program is the English Language Institute (ELI), which assists international students with academics and adjustment to college life. Students can take credit-bearing English classes and take advantage of the Tutoring Center for additional assistance. ELI Conversation Pairs, a volunteer program, pairs native English-speaking students with non-native English speakers. The pairs spend at least one hour a week together outside of the classroom setting to improve conversational skills.
