Alumni Connect - February 2018

Regional chapter and affinity roundup

By Steve Seepersaud

TIER Talks Because of its timeliness, "The Evolution of Cannabis" became the first TIER Talks® topic to be offered to multiple audiences. Our Long Island Chapter hosted about 50 alumni and friends Feb. 1, in Mineola, N.Y., for a panel discussion of the multifaceted legal and medical issues surrounding cannabis. Neil Kaufman '81 (far left), managing member of Kaufman and Associates, LLC, spoke at this event as well as the Sept. 29 offering of "The Evolution of Cannabis" held in Westchester County (see video from the fall event). Marc Kassman, owner of Nature's First Pharmacy and SMK Pharmacy, and Richard Carlton '64, integrative psychiatrist (second and third from left) also shared their expertise with the group. TIER Talks® is a speaker series presented by M&T Bank that showcases the tremendous intellectualism of our alumni and faculty. The Alumni Association thanks Howard Nevins '96 (far right) and Richard Leff '87 for organizing the event.
