Saki Mafundikwa Film: “Shungu: The Resilience of a People”

The campus community is invited to attend a film screening by Saki Mafundikwa, designer and adjunct professor at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Mafundikwa will present “Shungu: The Resilience of a People,” his award winning documentary feature about human rights abuses in Zimbabwe which has screened at the top documentary film festivals around the world.

The event will be held in the Binghamton University Art Museum starting at 5:00 PM.

Saki Mafundikwa’s lectures are always about his life in the US as a designer, art director, and design educator; the move back home, where he founded his country’s first graphic design and new media school, ZIVA (Zimbabwe Institute of Vigital Arts); his hopes and dreams for an African sensibility in design. His book, African Alphabets is of great interest to his audiences around the world as well.
