Agile Fundamentals Workshop: A Small Dose of Agile

Day Saturday, June 22
Time 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Where

Agile is a new way of working for everyone. It is a type of project management methodology that originated in software development, where demands and solutions evolve through the collaborative effort of self-organizing and cross-functional teams and their customers. Agile self-directed work teams collaborate to develop and deliver solutions in an iterative and continuously improving manner. Much like Lean methods began in the manufacturing domain and expanded across multiple industries, Agile practices are doing a very similar thing. Agile, Design Thinking and Lean have much synergy and are being used successfully to identify, develop and deliver superior customer outcomes.

In this workshop, topics discussed will include:

  • What is Agile and why is it important?
  • The synergy with Agile, Lean and Design Thinking
  • Foundational Agile Values and Principles
  • Agile self-directed work teams and practices, including:
    • Agile Teams & the Iteration Cycle
    • Practice 1 –Social Contract
    • Practice 2 –Iteration Planning
    • Practice 3 –Stand-Ups
    • Practice 4 –Showcase
    • Practice 5 –Retrospective

At the completion of this activity-based workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the Agile methodology and discuss its importance to industry
  • Explain how Agile, Design Thinking and Lean can be effectively leveraged by organizations
  • Understand and apply key Agile practices by:
    • Developing a Social Contract
    • Planning Agile Iterations
