Drew will look at how historical ecology can help us understand where we came from and where we are going. By examining historical baselines we can better align limited conservation efforts with historical expectations and can help choose among a variety of possible futures for our aquatic systems. Drawing on examples ranging from Central New York to Fiji to New England, he will outline how the past, the present and the future are linked through our actions.
