Artist's Statement:

The images I produce begin as photographs of shapes that I encounter

in the everyday world. These shapes are then manipulated until they

suggest a form that might be familiar or recognizable to a viewer.

Shapes have distinctiveness and presence even when they are not

plainly seen. I am conscious of the little things in this world and

am drawn to repetitive forms, wherever they appear. My work has

changed over time and digital photography has provided me with

additional tools; it has allowed my work to be more diverse. Here, I

photographed sections of stair risers where the paint had been chipped

or lost. The images were manipulated in various ways including the

addition of texture and color. My goal is to create something out of

nothing.
