14 One-of-a Kind Graduation Caps from the Binghamton University Class of 2021

From recognizing cherished pets to getting hyped for grad school, members of Binghamton University’s Class of 2021 celebrated this major milestone in their lives by decorating their caps! Check out some of the many meaningful and brilliantly decorated designs!

Golda Eichen, Biological Sciences Major

“Einstein’s is on campus…I’m going to Albert Einstein’s College of Medicine and my friend was like, ‘You’re going to Albert Einstein College of Bagels?’ And I was like ‘Sure!’” 

Alexa Scunziano, Psychology Major

"I am going to Brooklyn Law School in the fall."

Anastassia Schifchik, Biological Anthropology Major on the Premed Track

"I just always wanted to decorate my hat and I got excited that I got into med school."

Danielle Booker, Philosophy Politics and Law Major

"I just wanted to do a very fantasy, floral type of look, and it matches my dress and everything. I just wanted to go all out and decorate, you know? It’s 2021 and I’m graduating and I just want to have a great time!"

Paige Volkmann, Mathematical Sciences

"I put a math equation at the top and it's the equation to calculate the average. So it means 'Be greater than average.'"

Kristie Chan, Biology Major

"I’ve always really loved Mulan. I feel like maybe that’s because I’m also Chinese as well...I just love the movie. 'No dishonor on this family.'"

Julian Zumbach, Double major in Medieval Studies and Early Modern Studies

"My cap features a drawing I made of my pet gecko "Merlina" dressed as a saint, because I plan to study saints in graduate school. "Merlina" is holding a book with the letter "Y" for Yale University, where I plan to attend graduate school, and a rose for my grandmother "Rose," who passed away last year."

Nikita Narsingh, Biological Sciences Major

"I have loved Harry Potter since I was really young..I also put a little Guyana flag on the bottom because that’s where my parents are from, because I am first-generation."

Danielle Pittari, Psychology Major

"I wanted to go on to get my doctorate in psychology so I can become a clinical child psychologist."

Janai Mckenzie, Psychology Major

"I wanted to use a verse from Esther in the Bible, really just speaking to being blessed and highly favored, and that’s how I feel in my moment. By the grace of God, I made it."

Monica-Grace Mukendi, Human Development Major

"My name because my name is very important to me. And this is a Nicki Minaj quote/also a Bible verse, because God was instrumental in me being able to get to Binghamton and finish at Binghamton University as well. And yeah, then just my pictures."

Jessi Menotti, Double Major in Music and Linguistics

"I wanted to do something fun because I didn’t think we were going to be able to have a graduation. So it was really nice that we were able to!"

Justine Degaetano, Psychology Major

"There’s a huge stigma around mental health and I feel like we need to spread awareness about that. I wanted to make a statement."
