11 Things to Look Forward to at Spring Fling 2022
Posted by Nicole El Chami on April 26, 2022
As a senior, I can look back on my first Spring Fling as a first-year student in 2019. It was, and still is, the largest campus-wide event, with so much to offer. In 2019, the Spring Fling festival was filled with rides, food, and prizes while Flipp Deniro and Playboi Carti graced the Events Center stage for the evening concert. What we didn’t know at the time was that Spring Fling 2019 would be the last festival for two years, as we were met with the COVID-19 pandemic the following year. However, Spring Fling is back and it’s so exciting for seniors like myself who will get to experience the fun all over again, as well as for the students who will be experiencing the fun for the first time! Between rides, games, food trucks, prizes and live music, Spring Fling 2022 has so much to offer!
Don’t miss it Saturday, April 30, on the Peace Quad and Spine!
1. Rides

Carnival rides are making a return this year! Stop by for a ride on the merry-go-round, bumper cars or swings!
2. Games and Prizes

There will be water and carnival games stretching from the Peace Quad to the Spine where you can put yourself to the test and win prizes!
3. Inflatables

Challenge your friends in one of the inflatable obstacle courses or games!
4. Food Trucks

In addition to typical carnival food, such as funnel cakes, fried oreos and cotton candy, food trucks will also be on campus selling food from mac and cheese to BBQ, coffee, pastries and more!
5. Student Tabling

With over 100 student clubs and organizations tabling, each table is bringing something new, whether it’s pie-in-the-face or dance lessons!
6. Free Raffles

With all of the student tabling this Spring Fling, there will be plenty of raffles to take part in!
7. Student Performance Stage

The Student Performance Stage is a place to showcase the talent of student groups. Campus dance teams, bands and a capella groups will perform throughout the event!
8. Special Collaboration with the Art Museum

Celebrate the activation of Miguel Luciano’s Pimp my Piragua! Through this performance, Luciano celebrates Puerto Rican and Nuyorican street culture by serving traditional piraguas, a Puerto Rican form of shaved ice, from his otherwise non-traditional tricycle-pushcart, which features flat screen video monitors, LED lights, and a high-powered sound system!
This performance corresponds with the Binghamton University Art Museum's current feature exhibition, “Joy, Play and Resistance in the work of Miguel Luciano and Hiram Maristany.”
9. The Plasters

The student band and winner of Battle of the Bands, The Plasters, will be opening for the featured acts at the Spring Fling Concert!
10. Social House

Pittsburgh-based duo Social House will also be performing at Spring Fling! One of the duo’s most popular songs, “Magic In The Hamptons,” helped them take off back in 2018.
11. Gunna

Gunna will be performing hits such as “pushin P” off his newly released album DS4EVER, alongside music off his previous albums, Drip Season 3, Drip Harder, Drip or Drown 2 and WUNNA.
