Struggling to figure out how to spend Valentine's Day with your bae? Dinner and a movie is just so ordinary. Check out these unique-to-Binghamton ways to have a very special V-Day with your very special someone.
1. Work up a sweat
Just because the Nature Preserve is muddy doesn't mean you can't get out and enjoy some winter-time nature! Get those natural endorphins pumping and join a 5K on Valentine's Day. There's the Run with Your Hun 5K at the Vestal Coal House or the Cupid's Chase 5K in Ostiningo Park. Both are guaranteed to make your heart race as you and your sweetheart sprint to the finish.
2. Ace the case
Join the cast of Peaches and Crime for the "Dearly Department: A Paige and Donaldson Murder" Valentine's Day Murder Mystery Dinner at the Roberson Museum. Guests will be treated to a buffet-style dinner prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program at Broome-Tioga BOCES.
3. Marvel at your muse with music
On Feb. 15, the Phelps Mansion Museum will host "Composers at the Confluence: War and Consequence," a song cycle of four voices composed by Evan Flury. Musical performances will also include Hugunine’s “Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 17,″ as well as Budinich’s “Brothers” for a violin duet. Admission is free for Binghamton University students with ID.
4. Cozy up with critters
Valentine's Day isn't just for us humans. Head to the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park for Courtship Tails, a humorous, adults-only Valentine's Day event that highlights animal facts and rituals that relate to courtship and mating. Guests must be 21 years or older as wine tasting will be offered.
5. Support your fellow Bearcats
Cheer on your Bearcat Bhangra team during Bhangra Fever 6 in the Osterhout Concert Theater. Teams from all over North America will compete in one of the largest Bhangra competitions in the Southern Tier.
6. LOL with your love
See your sweetheart smile and get those laugh lines lifting with the featured finalists from the NYC Ladies of Laughter at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. Tickets are just $15.
