Over my time here at Binghamton, I have begun to understand why everyone raves about this campus -- it’s truly beautiful. Along with the amazing faculty and the incredibly bright students, Binghamton is a wonderful place to be. The one part about being wonderful, though, is knowing there is always room to grow and become MORE wonderful. That’s exactly what Binghamton has always done and is continuing to do, as evidenced by these many updates.
CopperTop Pizzeria is now open next to Tully’s, selling delicious pizza by the slice. My family has owned a pizzeria of their own my whole life, so you can definitely trust my taste.
Construction of the 84,000 square-foot, four-story Pharmacy School is expected to conclude in early fall. The building is part of a larger health science complex, which the Decker School of Nursing will also relocate to in order to accomodate a larger working and learning environment.
The Smart Energy Research and Development Facility, part of the Innovative Technologies Complex, located across the street from the main campus, just opened. The facility was built to be used by faculty and students alike, to explore the possibilities of clean-energy production and use. Maybe they’ll be able to figure out how to make a car run on less gas! (Or do they take requests? How about discovering how to make iPhones more energy-efficient and not have a battery life of 3.5 hours).
New and better lighting was added to the library to enhance your studying experience (and so everyone can see the sweat rolling down your forehead as you study for that huge exam).
Sweet, sweet victory. If you’re anything like me (someone who needs their small iced caramel coffee, no cream, three splenda every day), this is paradise.
Those cute, little, yellow-spotted salamanders that migrate annually to the Nature Preserve will now have safe travels thanks to the 30+ ramps that were installed to help them cross the road. If that just isn’t the most precious thing you’ve ever heard.
The University Bookstore underwent some changes, resulting in a better shopping experience for all -- because we know you can’t get enough of that #Pantone342 gear!
The east side of Science 4 is being completely renovated to allow for new facilities for psychology -- including laboratories, department, faculty and staff offices, restrooms and a new elevator. In addition, the exterior will be re-clad and a new entrance is being installed.
If you remember the Cayuga Hall renovations last year, this update to Seneca Hall, located in the College-in-the-Woods community, isn't much different. The bathrooms and elevators were modernized, the bedrooms got better lighting and a new roof was put on the building.
Binghamton always makes sure the campus looks polished, and this summer was no exception. From landscaping, planting flowers, painting benches, to just general upkeep, Binghamton looks as good as new for your arrival on campus. Binghamton really is #views.
The Koffman Southern Tier Incubator opened its doors in June to entrepreneurs and startup companies. Thanks to Binghamton University, SUNY Broome, and state and federal partners, this $19 million facility has an array of offices and labs, as well as co-working spaces that will encourage companies to collaborate.
Yes, I said it -- more parking! A 200-300 space parking lot is being built behind the information booth on Bartle Drive, with walkways connecting the lot to the rest of campus.
In the Fine Arts building: The area around the main entrance and the music wing on the second floor are looking slick with new flooring.
By the West Gym: With a little moving around, a new crosswalk and sidewalk was added in the West Gym parking lot. Also, the West Gym pool was touched up and accessorized with new equipment.
Around Hinman: Exterior lighting was replaced to be more energy-efficient. Also, new curbs and flooring were installed.
