Who says Valentine’s Day is only for couples? It’s a celebration of love, and that doesn’t just mean romantic love! Here are 9 things to do with the person (or people) you love, right here in Binghamton.
There are an endless amount of options for a Valentine’s dinner in Binghamton! Whether you’re with your significant other, your friends or flying solo, the Binghamton food scene’s got you covered. Below are just some of the restaurants offering Valentine’s Day specials, and hosting events:
Citrea Prix Fixe
Galaxy Brewing Company
The Broome County Forum is hosting the touring Broadway show A Chorus Line. This Broadway show within a Broadway show features music by renowned composer Marvin Hamlisch, and is a Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner! Purchase your tickets here.
No matter your relationship status, these ladies will put a smile on your face. Featuring the best talent from NYC’s Ladies of Laughter, this comedy event takes place at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage in Johnson City. Tickets are only $15!
Entrepreneurship at Binghamton University and the Southern Tier Incubator are hosting a Galentine’s Day Women Entrepreneurs Mixer at the cocktail lounge at Lost Dog. Get inspired by and make connections with the Southern Tier's best and brightest women entrepreneurs!
Like the characters from Sam Shepard’s True West. This family drama set in the Los Angeles suburbs in 1979 was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. KNOW Theatre in Downtown Binghamton is running this play from mid-to-late February, with discounts available for students! Pick up tickets here.
DoubleTree Binghamton partners with Uncorked Creations to put on a monthly Paint & Sip, and this month it’s Valentine’s Day-themed! So have a glass of wine (or two -- we’re not judging), and paint your very own love-themed painting to hang in your room to show your friends that you’re artsy. Uncorked Creations is also putting on their own Valentine’s Day wine and painting session, where you and your partner each paint half of the painting above. Did I mention that both events will have snacks?
This 21+ event takes place at Binghamton’s Ross Park Zoo. Courtship Tails will present a humorous, yet educational take on animal mating rituals, as guests enjoy coffee, desserts and a wine tasting. Plus you get a behind the scenes tour of the otter and penguin areas! Does it get any cuter? I don’t think so.
Or your friends, or even on your own! Both the “Run With Your Hun” and “Cupid’s Chase” 5Ks encourage you to dress up and get in the Valentine’s Day spirit. Cupid’s Chase is on the 10th and Run With Your Hun is on the 11th, so if you’re really looking to sweat it out on Valentine’s Day weekend, head to both! In addition, the funds raised from Cupid’s Chase will go to support residential and employment services for individuals with disabilities.
Multiple clubs will hold bake sales, flower sales, and offer pampering services in the Binghamton University MarketPlace and University Union on Valentine's Day! Keep an eye on B-Line and the events calendar for more details.
Jackie is a senior English major who will be starting her career as an assistant teacher in the fall of next year. Her hobbies include Instagram-stalking the Kardashians (Kylie had her baby!!) and making the most of her last semester with her friends and the pug they dogsit, Pugsley.
