Group Fitness

No competition, no comparison, just camaraderie! With over 100 classes each week, Group Fitness has something for everyone. Classes target cardiovascular fitness, muscle toning and strengthening, flexibility and mind-body wellness. All classes are held in the Recreation Center multipurpose rooms (EG-106, EG-24, EG-22) and require a valid fitness membership or purchase of a day pass.

Our goal

Our goal is to offer you a training experience with awesome music and the group fitness energy. Our enthusiastic and dedicated group fitness instructors will provide a safe, fun and effective class aimed at educating you about total body fitness, health and wellness while helping you achieve your fitness goals. We will always show you proper form in order to get every last ounce of benefit from your workout. 

Our instructors

All instructors are experienced and certified Binghamton University students. Each instructor brings their own unique background and interests, which means classes are diverse and styles may vary depending on the instructor. Try all the classes, find a class and instructor that best fits your style and get a great workout!

Are you interested in learning how to lead group fitness classes? Each spring, we offer an internship course that will educate, train and prepare you to take the AFAA GFI primary certification exam.

Our classes

Our classes are rooted in a team spirit approach with an emphasis on fitness, form and function. Classes are taught at the intermediate level with modifications shown for all fitness levels, ensuring everyone has a positive experience. You will love how you feel — energized, healthy and happy!

Certifications and CEUs

Each semester, Binghamton University Campus Recreation hosts a variety of national certification and continuing education workshops on campus by fitness organizations such as AFAA and ACE. These fee-based workshops are available to students, faculty, staff and the general public.
