I am the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization that works to raise awareness, reduce the stigma, educate the public and advocate for policy change to reduce the harms of substance use. We are an amazing and progressive organization. We are not an anti-drug organization, we're an anti-harm organization. We believe in Harm Reduction. Please look these terms up and make sure you're comfortable with them along with working with an organization that believes in social justice, racial justice and criminal justice reform. We have an incredible amount of work and I am desperate for an assistant. I am seeking someone who is motivated, driven and provides high quality work. A person who lacks attention for detail will not work for this position. Tasks will include various items as mundane as scanning and filing documents to as exciting as attending meetings, performing research or writing emails. We provide assistance to persons navigating the treatment world, we advocate to elected officials, we expose failures of the treatment system, we collaborate with other organizations, we work to reform policies and laws. There is a stipend available for this internship and I will ensure you get something meaningful from the experience. I am TRULY hoping to have someone who can start as soon as possible (I'm writing this 7/12/19). I have a specific budget and specific amount of hours in mind. I can be flexible with when the hours are worked, but would love to see a concentration of the hours performed this summer if possible.
