Project Description
Continuing Education and Outreach is the office at BU responsible for summer and winter session, non-credit programs and conferences and non- credit courses. We also work with non-matriculated students and prospective non –matriculated students who want to take some courses at BU, and eventually transfer in or apply elsewhere. Because of our work with non- matric students and community residents in our professional development non-credit courses, we realized there was an unmet need with non-traditional students here on campus. So, we have begun to work with, and support non –traditional students here at BU. Peer advisors will help forward that movement, by developing activities, continuing to identify resources. Peer Advisors may also conduct research on this population both within BU and across the US, and conduct surveys to identify needs. Description: Serve as a peer advisor to non-traditional students on campus, including graduate and undergrad students Develop the newly approved local chapter of the national honor society for non-traditional students, Alpha Sigma Lambda Prospect for participants Network with other offices and student groups Develop, coordinate and publicize activities for this term and next term Develop the non-traditional student website page and include resources, opportunities for networking, etc.
