Project Description
Students interested in business development, community development, entrepreneurship, communications as well as marketing and outreach may be interested in this internship. The SUNY Business and Education Cooperative of the Southern Tier (SUNY BEST) is a volunteer group of key economic and educational institutions in the Southern Tier. SUNY BEST forges alliances and provides information and outreach for businesses, and explores the business community workforce needs for traditional and emerging industry clusters, e.g., nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy, photonics, energy conservation and renewal. Sampling of responsibilities depending on the intern's needs and interests: New member prospecting Develop and maintain prospect spreadsheet Network to expand contacts and generate interest in the community and on campus in SUNY BEST Deliver presentations to prospective members Keep membership lists up to date, develop and maintain special event mailing lists Arrange speakers Manage and update listserv Explore use of social networking technology Explore new technologies to improve communications among members Review relevant literature and keep abreast of economic and higher education trends Develop and maintain mailing lists, social networking sites, website, i.e., all communication vehicles
