Project Description
Roberson Museum and Science Center is a regional museum of art and history, and a center for science and technology education serving the Susquehanna Valley region of New York and Pennsylvania. Roberson Museum and Science Center engages people of all ages and backgrounds by providing community relevant exhibitions and programs in art, history, and science education. The intern will assist the Director of Education, Marketing and Public Relations Manager and the Rentals/Special Events Coordinator in a variety of event planning tasks. Good research skills, neat handwriting, and attention to detail are important. Duties may include soliciting vendors, preparing databases, organizing event materials, distributing promotional materials, creating mailers, overseeing set up/take down, overseeing event volunteers, and other duties related to the planning, organizing, running and clean up of an event. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills are a must due to involvement with the public. Applicants with prior event planning, sales, or marketing experience are preferred. General computer skills are helpful but not required. Candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Major/student status preferred: Education, Marketing, Human Development, Communications, Management, are helpful, but not mandatory. Mature attitude rather than specific academic status is important.
