Founded in 1992, Summerbridge Hong Kong is a non-profit organization which creates unique educational opportunities for highly motivated but socioeconomically underprivileged secondary school students in Hong Kong. We provide comprehensive year-round programs to develop students’ English communication, self-confidence, and interest in the learning process through an intensive English Language Development curriculum, small class size, individual mentoring, and hands-on learning strategies. Each summer, the students are immersed in an intense five-week, English-only environment in which they are taught and mentored by a motivated group of student teachers from local and overseas high schools and universities. The uniqueness and quality of the program results from our "students teaching students" model, which offers older students the opportunity to teach younger students in a safe, supportive, and diverse learning environment where young people are both the initiators and beneficiaries of the educational process.
