Fleishman Center to Be Recognized as Exemplary Career CenterWednesday, June 21, 2017
Next week, the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development will be presented the 2017 Exemplary Career Center award by the National Career Development Association (NCDA), the top award given to recognize outstanding achievement by a career center. The recognition ceremony takes place at the NCDA global conference in Orlando, Florida.
This distinction promotes the continued development and implementation of thoughtful and innovative initiatives that support career development for outstanding service within the education, government, or business sectors. The Fleishman Center was selected based on its overall mission, services, vision, goals and strategic planning. Binghamton University’s Fleishman Center is the third center to ever be recognized as an Exemplary Career Center internationally.
The Fleishman Center is a full service center providing a transformative learning community that partners with campus, alumni, and employers to prepare Binghamton undergraduate and graduate students with career-readiness skills for advanced education and careers. The Center is committed to helping students secure opportunities through creating connections via high-impact learning, alumni and employer events, innovative approaches, and career consulting sessions. This past fall, two Fleishman Center signature initiatives, the Career Consultant in Residence model and Binghamton in the City: A Week of Connections, were recognized as Outstanding Student Affairs Programs by the State University of New York’s Chief Student Affairs Officers and Office of University Life.
The National Career Development Association was founded in 1913 making it the first, longest running and preeminent career development association in the world. NCDA’s mission is to provide professional development, publications, standards, and advocacy to practitioners and educators who inspire and empower individuals to achieve their career and life goals.
