ExportNY Program

Exporting is one of the most effective means of expanding sales and markets for healthy businesses. Whether your company is considering exporting, selling internationally on a limited basis, or fully engaged with an international distribution network, ExportNY can assist your growth.

ExportNY is a four-month interactive program on exporting and international business development. Its primary purpose is to assist companies from the Southern Tier, NY region in expanding their businesses through successful exporting and continuous international business development.

ExportNY is designed for executives responsible for their company's international marketing, finance, and operations. It helps participants determine which international markets are attractive, prioritize efforts, develop strategies to penetrate each market and tackle the legal, cultural, logistical and regulatory issues of doing business abroad.

The Program takes a strategic approach to developing a global business plan and gives companies a jump start by providing classroom training, market research, tools and resources in a stimulating, interactive and supportive environment. Students from Binghamton University provide research support at no additional cost to help with research and implementation efforts under the guidance of the participant and program staff.

Participants spend two days per month in program sessions. Between sessions they work on developing and executing their plan. By the end of this fast-paced program, businesses are on their way to expanding their markets.

ExportNY Partners

ExportNY was developed by the Center for International Business Advancement in close collaboration with the Alliance for Manufacturing & Technology (AM&T) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Binghamton University. Other key partners include the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Global New York Program of Empire State Development, the Workforce Development Institute, and the Economic Development Office of the City of Binghamton.

The Program is offered under the auspices of the Syracuse-based ExportNY Program. ExportNY has been created in Syracuse 20 years ago as a partnership between the Whitman School of Management (Kiebach Center for International Studies) at Syracuse University, the Central NY Technology Development Organization, and the Central NY International Business Alliance. The Program has proven itself to be a successful springboard for growth and opportunity for companies from the Syracuse area and the Central NY region, where it has trained over 120 companies through the years.

We are very thankful to our partners from Syracuse for the enormous support that they have offered in the process of adapting the ExportNY Program for the Southern Tier.
