International Strategic Partnerships & Soft Landing New York

The International Strategic Partnerships Program is designed to help businesses from the Southern Tier and Upstate New York establish mutually beneficial partnerships with foreign companies that are interested in expanding to the U.S. market.

Soft Landing New York Program

A partnership between Binghamton University, the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator, the Center for International Business Advancement, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, as well as local and regional government agencies and various other stakeholders, secured a $1.6 million federal grant in January 2022 to establish a Southern Tier regional hub designed to attract foreign startups and growing companies from the cleantech sector. The cross-university, multi-year program, "Soft Landing on New York's Southern Tier," is funded by the Economic Development Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Soft Landing New York will connect the vast expertise of Binghamton and Cornell Universities with foreign businesses looking to establish a presence in the United States. The Program will provide a range of assistance aimed at making it easier for onboarding companies to set up operations and integrate successfully into the regional markets.

The InBIA Soft Landings Designation provides:

- Credibility of being specially equipped to work with foreign companies;

- Warranty for program quality to prospective inbound companies;

- Immersion into a global network of support systems that nurture innovation and early-stage company growth.

Are you a business looking to grow in New York State and throughout the entire United States? Be Part of this Program!

The United States offers the largest consumer market on earth with a GDP of $20 trillion and 325 million people. Household spending is the highest in the world, accounting for more than a quarter of global household consumption. At the same time, free trade agreements with 20 other countries provide enhanced access to hundreds of millions of additional consumers.

However, foreign businesses interested in expanding to the U.S. market don't always know how to navigate the process of establishing operations here. The business practices are different, and regulations can be challenging. Furthermore, American customers may think differently about how your product is promoted and purchased. These factors can make your expansion into the U.S. market risky and costly.
