Rosemary Collier worked in medical research for many years before embarking on a second career in nursing. She holds a BS in psychology from Fordham University and worked in genetic and pulmonary research at Rockefeller University and the Weill Cornell Medical College at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Since moving to Binghamton, Collier earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Binghamton University's Decker School of Nursing. She has been working since 2007 with the Decker School's tobacco research program, which was eventually formalized as the Interdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Program (ITURP).
