Welcome to the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program website! Feel free to browse and learn about what this new educational program at Binghamton University can offer you.

Our program aims to prepare well-educated, theoretically-informed, ethical, culturally competent and skillful public health professionals who can apply their knowledge to solve public health challenges. Within this program, you will have the opportunity to engage in active learning experiences both here and abroad, providing you with real-world skills to improve lives and contribute to community well-being.

The field of public health encompasses the prevention of disease and the promotion of health by addressing underlying environmental factors and social determinants with the goal of achieving health equity among populations. The MPH Program at Binghamton University will provide you with immersion experiences in which you gain practical public health "know how." You will learn how to develop scientific evidence and translate it into meaningful health improvements for diverse populations and communities. You will develop sound professional judgment and be able to work as a contributing member of an inter-professional team.

As a graduate of our MPH program, you will be prepared to be an effective leader and public health practitioner who possesses the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes for: (a) assessing public health needs; (b) designing, implementing and evaluating public health programs; and (c) conducting applied research to meet the public health needs of populations.

Employment opportunities abound in New York for public health graduates and include public health departments at county and state levels as well as insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Top industry employment occurs in colleges and universities, hospitals, home healthcare, primary care, outpatient care centers, long-term care facilities, health and human service agencies, and community health programs.

The MPH Program at Binghamton University is committed to academic and scholarly excellence, advancement of a diverse and inclusive culture, and engagement with the local and global community. Our program includes a diverse faculty who work closely with you as teachers, advisors and mentors. You will have outstanding field experiences in local or global settings.
