Dear Parents/Guardians,
The purpose of this message is to provide a brief status report to you regarding conditions on campus and in the area:
- Much of our area in Upstate New York is in a State of Emergency due to extensive flooding in the region.
- Residence halls are staffed and there is no significant flood or water damage to residence halls.
- Classes are cancelled to at least 4 p.m. today.
- Campus bus service is not running to off-campus locations (blue bus) until further notice due to road closures.
- Some students living off campus were evacuated. To our knowledge most are staying with friends at this time.
- The campus is providing shelter to hundreds of area residence in the Events Center and West Gym. We are working closely with the Red Cross, Broome County Health Dept., and local security agencies.
- We do not recommend travel at this time.
- Call center is now active answering calls and providing information. Please use discretion as they are fielding emergency calls.
- Please refer to the Binghamton University website for updates and general information at binghamton.edu/index.html.
- Limited staffing at dining halls at this time but we are maintaining food service with student volunteers assisting.
- Health Services is open with reduced professional staffing.
