In addition to being the home of Bearcats basketball, the Events Center’s design allows flexibility to host a variety of sporting events. The contained arena playing surface equals a full-sized soccer field in size and can accommodate four practice basketball, volleyball or tennis courts.
The Events Center was selected to be the host site for the 2015 and 2016 America East Women's Basketball Championship.
"The Events Center is one of the top on-campus basketball venues in the region and we are excited to take our women's basketball championship there in both 2015 and 2016," said America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen. "
The arena served as the host venue for the first three rounds of the 2005, 2006 and 2008 America East Men's Basketball Championships, the entire 2007 America East Women's Basketball Championship and the pinnacle event — the 2009 America East Men's Basketball Championship Game. A sellout crowd of 5,342 and a nationally televised ESPN2 audience witnessed Binghamton's 61-51 victory over UMBC. That win gave the Bearcats their first conference title and inaugural NCAA berth.
With unwavering campus and community support, the men's program led the America East in attendance for an unprecedented nine straight seasons between 2004-12 and the women's team has annually been among the conference leaders in attendance.
In addition to athletics, the Events Center has been the host of numerous concerts, shows, festivals and other prominent area events. The summer of 2004 brought the Empire State Games to Binghamton University. The Events Center also hosted the 2005 Choice Hotels International
Binghamton University hosted the opening ceremonies for New York state's 2004 and 2008 Empire State Games in the Events Center with nearly 10,000 people attending each time. The New York Special Olympics has also held several fall games and the 2008 and 2009 summer games competitions and ceremonies in the Events Center.
First ever indoor BU home track meet was held February 2005. Binghamton University hosted SUNY Albany and Syracuse University in February 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Indoor BU home tennis matches in 2007, '08, '09, and '10.
Record attendance for Men's America East Conference Tournament held in the Events Center, March 2009. The America East Women's Basketball Championship was held in March 2007.
