Space in the program is filling rapidly. Seats are still available in the Biogeochemistry, Environmental Visualization, and Image & Acoustic Signals Analysis Research Streams.
Freshman Research Immersion (FRI) students conduct research in what are known as Research Streams, research courses dedicated to a specific field in sciences and engineering, led by three to five faculty members.
After admission to BU, students can enroll in FRI and at that time indicate their top three choices of research streams. After admission to FRI, they register for the stream that they've been placed into.
The course sequence for each Research Stream consists of one Research Methods seminar, followed by two semesters in each student's selected Research Stream.
After FRI, students have a wide variety of opportunities for additional research and internship experience at Binghamton and beyond.
