Harpur Law Council Pre-Law Public Interest Law Internship Summer Program

A Pre-Law internship program that enables students to experience the practice of law in the public sector by connecting them with Harpur Law Council member attorneys and other Binghamton University law alumni.

This unique undergraduate internship program gives Binghamton University juniors and seniors the opportunity to experience first-hand the practice of law in the public sector and make informed decisions about their choice to pursue a career in law.

Selected students receive stipends ranging from $3,000 to $4,000 plus one credit. For 2019, ten internship placements will be offered. These sites include: Broome County Attorney's Office, Binghamton, NY; Center for Elder Law & Justice, Buffalo, NY; Innocence Project, NYC; Legal Services NYC, Bronx; New York State Division of Homes and Community Renewal: Tenant Protection Unit (Jamaica, NY); NYC Department of Education, Manhattan; New York Supreme Court Trial Judge, Honorable Joel Cohen '83, Manhattan; U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Office of Chief Counsel, Arlington, VA or Tzedek DC, Washington, D.C.; Waterfront Commission of NY Harbor, Manhattan; Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, UK.
