It will tease out how taxonomies imposed by early excavators and partage decisions aimed at building national and institutional collections seeded disciplinary, institutional, and linguistic (both ancient and modern) silos that continue to define access to the physical and intellectual products descending from blockbuster foreign run excavations.

Love, Loss, and Dreams: A Woman’s Life in Song centers on "Frauenliebe und Leben" by Robert Schumann, the beloved cycle tracing a woman’s journey through love, marriage, motherhood, and loss.

The program also celebrates the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla with songs reflecting memory, grief, and a mother’s prayer for children spared from war. Completing the recital is a revival of rarely heard songs in French by Mexican composer Gustavo Campa, newly edited and presented as a U.S. premiere, all brought to life by Binghamton faculty artists Brenda Iglesias, contralto, and Curt Pajer, piano.

The program features a dynamic blend of contemporary percussion works alongside classical music reimagined for percussion ensembles. It showcases a diverse sound palette, incorporating a wide array of instruments such as metals, membranes, wood, and shakers. The performance also highlights the vibrant rhythms and unique textures of Caribbean music, with the Binghamton University Steel Drum Band, bringing the lively and melodic sounds of steel drums to the forefront. This mix of traditional and modern percussion elements blends classical arrangements with the infectious energy of Caribbean Steel Pan.
