Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions about travel while ISSS is unavailable, please review the information below. If you have additional questions that are not answered on our site, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I left the U.S. without getting a travel signature. OR I will be traveling before
January 2 and forgot to get a travel signature. What should I do?
Complete the Request I-20 Reprint form. We will review this form and issue an updated I-20 as soon as possible after we resume regular operations on January 2. If you will need the I-20 express mailed to you, you must also complete the Express Mail form so that we can send your I-20 to you as quickly as possible.
I am traveling without a valid travel signature on my I-20 and will return to the
U.S. before January 9. I might not be able to get a new I-20 in time. What should
If you are returning without a valid travel signature before January 2, 2019, you can politely explain your situation to the Customs and Border Protection officer and request Form I-515A, which would allow you entry to the U.S. for up to 30 days. You must have a valid passport, F-1 visa, and preferably a copy of your most recent I-20. If you are issued Form I-515A, you should bring that form and your other immigration documents to ISSS immediately during walk-in hours so that we can assist you in the process of correcting your status.
If you will be returning to the U.S. after ISSS resumes normal operations on January 2, please call ISSS during walk-in advising hours so that an advisor can review your situation with you individually.
I have questions about applying for a new visa.
If you are applying for a new F-1 or J-1 visa over the winter break, please review our visa application instructions for new students or continuing students.
I am a newly admitted student and have questions about orientation.
Please review our new student pages for details about arrival in Binghamton and Spring 2019 International Student Orientation.
