Congratulations to Our Two ITS Employees For Receiving Bearcat Recognition Awards!

Congratulations to Pharmacy School’s IT Administrator Devon Lash and Assistant Director of Business Systems Jeff Ramsay on receiving the Bearcat Recognition Award!

Devon was nominated by John Wilcko, Operations Assistant for the Pharmacy School, and Jeff was nominated by a colleague who’d like to remain anonymous. Both have been recognized for their IT efforts and hard work.

Bearcat Recognition Awards are given to staff members who have made large accomplishments and contributions to the University. Their coworkers fill out a form to nominate them, and winners receive a letter from Vice President Brian Rose and a hand-delivered Certificate of Recognition from Baxter himself! They are also entered into a drawing for a prize and have their names both listed on the University website and recognized at the next Divisional meeting.

“Mr. Lash is a wonderful person who goes above and beyond not only for students of the Pharmacy School, but the staff/faculty as well. He genuinely cares about people and makes an unbelievable effort into making everyone feel welcome. His professionalism, dedication, and compassion are second to none. From early morning to late in the evening you can always count on Mr. Lash to be willing and eager to help in any way possible. The Pharmacy School and University is a much better place with Mr. Lash here.”

“We had a major failure of a critical reporting system just before the Fourth of July. ITS worked diligently with SAS (vendor) support to try and resolve the issue. Jeff started looking at this and basically reverse-engineered the system to find the root cause of the problem… In the end it was restored to a point and was not functioning properly. Jeff checked the system and did diagnostic examinations and studied pages supplied by the vendor and made corrections to several software components in the system. In particular, he corrected problems/errors with the PostGres database. He also created a backup script for the database that allows for a much easier and simpler recovery for the PostGres database if required in the future. We are proud to call Jeff a colleague and appreciate all he does on a daily basis for students…”
