eduroam: Binghamton University’s Wi-Fi Fun Facts and FAQs

What is eduroam?

Known to BU students as the on-campus Wi-Fi option, “education roaming,” according to InCommon, is “the secure, world-wide roaming wireless service developed for and by the international research and education community.” This service started in Europe and is now utilized in more than 33,000 locations worldwide.

What makes this so interesting?

Once a device is set up to connect to eduroam at a specific campus, the device will automatically connect to an established eduroam network regardless of location. This makes it easy for individuals who may find themselves visiting different campuses to have continuous internet access without having to set up a new guest account when not at their base campus.
