The University Downtown Center Library-Information Commons, located on the main floor of the University Downtown Center (UDC), maintains a collection of books, reference materials, regional government documents, and current periodicals in the disciplines of community and public affairs, human development, public administration, social work, and student affairs. The UDC houses the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) which includes the Department of Social Work, the Department of Human Development, the Department of Public Administration, and the Department of Student Affairs Administration.

UDC Library Reader Services Desk

Students, Staff and Faculty are encouraged to make the UDC Library Reader Services Desk their first stop when making inquiries about resources and services offered by the library. You can contact the UDC Library Reader Services Desk at 607-777-9225.

Research and Reference Help

Research Assistance Services provide help in identifying and accessing an extensive range of print and electronic resources for teaching, learning and research. Research assistance is provided in-person, by telephone or virtually. The Research Help (Reference Desk) is located in Bartle Library on the first floor in the Information Commons. During the fall and spring semesters, Research Help is also provided in-person at the UDC Library – see UDC Research & Reference Hours. For more information, visit Ask A Librarian.

Research & Reference Help Hours

Monday – Thursday 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., when classes are in session

Building Hours: Summer 2018 (May 21 - August 17, 2018)

Students have access to the computer pods, lounges, and group study rooms during building hours, even if the Library-Information Commons is closed.

  • Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday – Sunday: closed

In addition to the five study carrels in the UDC Library, the following rooms are available for quiet study during UDC building hours.

• Room 123 (Computer Pod)
• Rooms 124A-D (Multi-media group study rooms)
• Room 328 (Graduate Computer Pod)
• Room 357 (Graduate Student Lounge)
