Background
Diane
Richardson is a part-time associate professor of music in the Binghamton University Music Department. She received professional training at the Juilliard School studying vocal repertoire with Sergius Kagen, Robert Starer and piano with Adele Marcus. Richardson studies at the Mozarteum, in Salzburg, Austria, and L'Universita Per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy. She toured extensively with leading artists throughout the United States and Europe. For more than a decade, Richardson was an assistant conductor with the New York City Opera Company and also taught five years at the Yale School of Music. She served as assistant conductor in the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy and has been associated with the Santa Fe Opera Festival and the Spoleto USA Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, since its inception in 1977. Richardson holds concurrent faculty appointments at the Juilliard School and at Binghamton University. She has been a member of the Binghamton music faculty since 1983.
