Nicole Rouhana, director of graduate programs and assistant professor of nursing at Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing, was selected by Binghamton’s Graduate School as Graduate Director of the Year for the 2017-18 academic year.

A certified nurse midwife and family nurse practitioner, Rouhana has been in the nursing profession for more than 35 years, and within higher education for 25 of those years. She received a master’s degree in nursing in 1995 and a doctoral degree in nursing in 2011, both from the Decker School. In 2013 she joined the school in her present roles.

The award for Outstanding Graduate Director recognizes the exemplary service of Binghamton University’s graduate directors. Among the many criteria to receive the award are providing oversight of recruitment, admissions and student progress-to-degree in a manner that facilitates program goals; promoting smooth day-to-day operations; having a commitment to continual improvement; and fostering innovations within the department.
