Faculty from the Decker School of Nursing nominated family nurse practitioner (FNP) student Fatiha Bacha for the 2018 Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award given by the Nurse Practitioner Association (NPA) of New York State. Award winners will be announced at the annual NPA meeting in October.

A full-time graduate student, Bacha has maintained a 4.0 GPA every semester throughout her academic studies. She entered the FNP program in fall 2016 and expects to graduate in May. She has successfully completed her master’s synthesis, “Provision of Culturally Sensitive Care of a Diabetic Jordanian Woman.”

Bacha works as a registered nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y., where she has been employed since June 2008. She is also a board certified critical care RN.

Bacha received an associate degree in nursing from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in May 2008 and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Upstate Medical University (Syracuse) in May 2011. She graduated summa cum laude both times.

She has been a student member of the NPA since January 2017 and is also a student member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
