Binghamton nurse practitioner student wins scholarship

John Tarbox, a graduate student in Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing, is the 2018 recipient of an annual scholarship from the Susquehanna Chapter of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State (NPA), based on his outstanding academic and professional achievements.

A registered nurse with experience in cardiac telemetry, Tarbox is a nursing supervisor in the Binghamton, N.Y., area.

He earned his undergraduate degree in nursing from the Decker School in 2014 and is now a student in Decker’s Family Nurse Practitioner program, where he maintains a 3.9 GPA. He will graduate in May and launch his career in family practice in the fall.

Tarbox serves on the board of directors for the Zeta Iota Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau (the International Honor Society of Nursing) at the Decker School; he is also a student member of the NPA and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
