Sarah Spinler appointed chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice

Spinler brings 30 years of academic and patient-care experience

School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Founding Dean Gloria Meredith announces that Sarah Spinler, PharmD, FCCP, FCPP, FAHA, FASHP, AACC, BSPC AQ-Cardiology, has been appointed chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and has begun her duties.

“Sarah has an impressive background and brings a depth of experience to our school that is truly unparalleled,” said Meredith. “Strong leadership in our Department of Pharmacy Practice will play a crucial part in our overall success. I’m confident that Sarah’s knowledge of the clinical requirements for our students, coupled with her experience as an administrator, will provide the foundation we need to ensure our students will be able to practice at the top of their license upon graduation.”

“I am pleased to join the Department of Pharmacy Practice here at Binghamton,” said Spinler. “With 30 years of academic and patient-care experience, I know that the profession of pharmacy is exciting and rewarding. I’m ready to work with our students and faculty as they make an impact on patient care in the Southern Tier.”

Spinler, most recently professor emeritus at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, University of the Sciences, earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota and completed a post-graduate training residency and fellowship in cardiology/intensive care pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

She has held faculty appointments at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, as well as the University of the Sciences, and is an elected fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) Quality of Care and Outcomes Research Interdisciplinary Council, AHA Clinical Cardiology, American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and is an associate of the American College of Cardiology.

Spinler was elected to serve on ACCP’s Board of Regents for a three-year term. She has more than 200 publications to her credit, including research, reviews, editorials and book chapters.
