Track team celebrates Thanksgiving together

Ask any Binghamton student-athlete and they are bound to tell you that their teammates are like their family. In the spirit of teammates being like family, the track team held its own feast, a appropriately renamed “Tracksgiving.”

Men’s basketball freshman Sessoms gaining recognition

Binghamton men’s basketball guard Sam Sessoms has been named America East Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced on Monday. Sessoms also was selected as the University’s Athlete of the Week.

Men’s cross country runner named all-region

Redshirt sophomore Dan Schaffer placed 23rd overall in the men’s 10k race, highlighting Binghamton’s performance at the NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Meet on Friday afternoon at the Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo.

Cross country runners earn top-three honors at America East Championship

Redshirt sophomore Dan Schaffer was second overall in the men’s race and freshman Aziza Chigatayeva was third in the women’s event, highlighting Binghamton’s performance at the America East Cross Country championships on Saturday at Mine Falls Park. The Bearcat men’s team finished third out of nine teams while the women’s squad placed fifth overall.

Golf wins home invitational

It was a banner end to the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate for the Binghamton golf team at the Links of Hiawatha.

Three men’s soccer players honored by America East

Graduate student defender Kevin Flesch has been named second-team all-conference as well as all-academic by the America East Conference for the 2018 men’s soccer season. In addition, sophomore midfielder Noah Luescher joined Flesch on the All-Academic Team and freshman back Aidan Sullivan was named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team.

Four divers qualify for NCAA regionals

The Binghamton swimming & diving teams are already off to an impressive start this year. Both the men’s and women’s squads are unbeaten so far in dual meets. Between them, one program record and five pool records have been broken.

Swim teams finish fall season unbeaten

Sophomore Kaitlyn Smolar won three events and set a program record, highlighting the Binghamton swimming & diving teams sweep at Canisius in their final meet of the fall on Saturday at the Koessler Athletic Center.

Volleyball standout Alicea honored by conference

Binghamton senior volleyball player Gaby Alicea has been named to the America East all-conference first team, the league announced Thursday night at its annual awards banquet. Earning recognition along with Alicea were freshman setter Kiara Adams and senior middle hitter Lexi LaGoy. Adams made the All-Rookie Team and LaGoy repeated as an All-Academic Team selection.

Women’s basketball signs four recruits

The Binghamton women’s basketball program has announced the signing of four high school seniors, all of whom will join the squad next fall as freshman. The quartet represents the first signings since Bethann Shapiro Ord was named the program’s head coach back in June.

Women’s soccer standout Saager named all-region

Binghamton women’s soccer senior striker Kayla Saager has capped her collegiate career with repeat all-region accolades. On Monday, Saager was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region third team. The region composes 44 teams, including those from the powerful ACC.
