Student Employment Initiative implemented

The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development leads effort

The Fleishman Center leads the University’s Student Employment Initiative to enhance and streamline the student employment process in conjunction with a University-wide committee comprised of colleagues in Human Resources; Financial Aid; Academic Affairs; the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Student Affairs; and Binghamton University Dining Services. In addition to centralizing job postings for students in the Fleishman Center’s job portal, hireBING by Handshake, the committee developed a Student Employment website containing resources for students and employers, and provides ongoing training for employers and students. As a result of the committee’s work, overall student job postings on hireBING increased by 204 percent when comparing postings from fall 2017 to fall 2018. On-campus postings have increased by 132 percent, and off-campus positions by 675 percent.
