Construction update

A number of buildings are nearing construction phase or undergoing renovations

Pharmacy basement

Work is underway in the basement of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to create hub facilities for the Health Sciences Campus for University Police, Environmental Health and Safety, and Information Technology. Offices and conference rooms are being framed and work is about 25 percent complete. The spaces will be ready for occupants in March.

Pharmacy R&D Building

Design is about 60 percent complete on the pharmacy R&D building. The facility will support School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences research efforts and be connected to the School of Pharmacy building. Utility infrastructure is being coordinated and work is expected to begin in summer 2019, with completion in 2020.

48 Corliss (Decker School of Nursing)

The bid process is underway for the renovation and construction of an addition to 48 Corliss Ave., Johnson City, N.Y. A bid will be awarded in early January 2019, with construction to follow. The renovation of the first four floors will create classrooms, simulation labs, offices, advising and conference space, an information commons, food service and public space for the Decker School of Nursing. The addition will house an elevator/stair tower, lobby, classrooms and mechanical room. Floors five and six will be shelled out for future nursing program expansion. Work will be complete in August 2020.

Upgrade site high-voltage phase 6

This project upgrades underground manholes, conduit duct banks and high-voltage cables for the Science Complex. The contractor has installed a new duct bank in the area of Science 1 and Academic B. Most work in that area is complete, though the contractor will return in the spring to pave areas affected by the project and restore the site. The contractor is active in the area between Science 2 and Science 3 constructing concrete pads for new transformers. Work will also occur in building electrical rooms.

Science 2 renovation (physics wing)

The bid for this project has been awarded and work will get underway in early 2019. Phase one will renovate the entire physics wing of this 50-year-old building. The project will include new multi-discipline undergraduate labs, classrooms, restrooms, energy-efficient exterior fenestration and updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing building systems including air conditioning. The project is expected to be complete in 2020.

Engineering Building rehab

The bid for this project has been awarded and work will get underway in early 2019. This critical maintenance project will renovate 66,000 square-feet of space in the Engineering Building. Improvements include upgrades to HVAC systems including new air handlers, chiller and duct work; upgrades to power panels, lighting controls, fiber optics and emergency generators; new ADA-compliant offices, classrooms and restrooms; and new exterior cladding with insulated panels and new windows.

Onondaga renovation

Asbestos abatement and the majority of selective demolition has been completed. Wall layouts in core and suite bathrooms is underway. Some framing work is underway. Work is also occurring on rough-ins for mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The overall project entails renovation of bathrooms, lounge areas and corridors with new ceilings, flooring and lighting. New doors and hardware will be installed and exterior masonry repairs are included in the work. Onondaga renovations will be complete in time for the beginning of the fall 2019 semester.
